Looking for reading material recommendations?
This can pertain to manga, graphic novels or even novels. Any type of manga as long as it isn’t heavy on romance and stuff; same for graphic novels. As for the novels, my preferred genres are: suspense, mystery, horror/macabre, action/adventure and video game based types (Splinter Cell, Gears of War, God of War and Halo for example). Thanks a bunch in advance.
Can you give me new Magna/Graphic Novels I never heard of and that are good?
Well I’ve been seeing Fruits Basket on Neflix and I like it very much. Do you have any other Magna/Graphic Novels that you like too? I also like X-Men Misfits too. I’m mostly looking at romance, fantasy, and teen.
I also like Ouran Academy High School Host Club
Name some graphic novels under the following genres:?
-Romance
-Political
-Thriller
-Horror
(Please provide some examples of graphic novels that fall under the following categories, and make sure they’re actually graphic novels and not comics. Thank You.)
no manga included.
Good horror Manga similar to Junji Ito's work?
Hey. I’m looking for any good horror manga (Although I will accept American/British graphic novels too – but I want supernatural and/or body horror.) with themes or styles similar to Junji Ito. I am strangely obsessed with his work, it is twisted and weird but genuinely creative and creepy. He wrote "Uzumaki," "Gyo," "Tomie" and "The Long Dream." for a few examples.
Can someone tell me the names of some other surreal/supernatural manga or comics that are similar in style or tone…?
What are some good comics and graphic novels?
It’s been a few years since I have been collecting graphic novels and have recently renewed my interest. I’m a little behind but I already have some like v for vendetta, watchmen, the sin city series, a few batman ones, history of violence, and ghost world. I have heard that the sandman series is a good read and so is Y the last man, and that the marvel zombie series was fun. What are some good graphic novels I should check out? I’m open to any genres (action, drama, superhero, comedy, horror, ect…, even manga). Any suggestions? —-sorry i had to ask again, my question got deleted somehow.

Can you recommend some non-superhero graphic novels for a 9-yr-old boy?
My son is 9 and in grade 4. I’d like some suggestions for graphic novels that he might enjoy. Just no superheroes, because we have lots of those.
Some info about his likes/dislikes:
Preferred genres (in this order): adventure, humour, fantasy, mystery, action.
Stuff he loves: the Bone series (he has all of them, incl. prequels etc.), Ranma 1/2 anime (for the silly humour), Diary of a Wimpy Kid (ditto on the humour), Star Wars, Transformers (80s cartoon), Narnia.
And that’s about it. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. But no manga please–he likes colour. ![]()
Good, Large Graphic Novels?
I’m looking for something kind of specific. I want to get a few graphic novels that are large and complete. I do not like buying small volumes at each, and want to get a complete story.
Something like Watchmen or Bone (really the only two I’ve ever read besides Erfworld, which is free online). I really liked all of those comics and am looking for something similar.
I read the first volume of Y: the last man, and would love to buy the complete collection as one book, but apparently it doesn’t exist yet. As I said, I refuse to buy comics in 40 page sections which take 30 minutes to read and cost way too much. I almost got the Walking Dead Compendium Vol 1, but the Amazon vendor dropped my order and the price more than doubled everywhere else.
Anyway, I’m looking for action, adventure, fantasy etc. I really don’t want standard superhero comics like Batman, etc. because I feel like I need to know back-story.
I’m going to try Mouse Guard which looks cool, any other suggestions?
What's the deal with graphic novels?
When I was in Barnes and Noble they had 2 shelves of graphic novels. I looked through the graphic novels and as far as genre goes, it’s macabre, often macabre fantasy, all the way. The adaptions they had of classics were all Edgar Allen Poe or other stories in that area. Are they *trying* to drive away the populace? I might buy something by Edgar Allen Poe next time, but the rest was just too brooding and grotesque and crap. What is with the obsession with darkness in graphic novels?
I kind of understand why they had nine shelves of manga at the store.
