What do you look for most in a fantasy novel?

Is characterization important, lots of strange creatures, authentic feel of the story, what?

well-constructed plot. that’s what makes a novel exciting to read. I also like strange creatures and suspense.

I read them in my teens and early 20’s
    and now at 55 I live one…and if I wasn’t
    actually living this life
I would be hard pressed to believe it.

The feel…I wont read something that sounds corny…it has to be at least somewhat realistic

a good plot, something that dosent drag on or put you to sleep hons

Honestly I love sci-fi and fantasy books, but the problem seems to be that so many of them have a hard time ending the series. Wheel of Time was totally kick ass….until about the tenth book and NOTHING was resolved…..Then Robert Jordan passed away and I lost allllll interest. I like a fantasy novel that takes 1000 pages or less and has a begining, middle, and end.

    Graphic sex
