What do you look for most in a fantasy novel?

Is characterization important, lots of strange creatures, authentic feel of the story, what?

Any good horror genre of comics?

I mean like vampire, zombies, ect. Stuff like animal man and swamp thing, i vampire, etc.
also May I request some horor graphic novels?

Why did the medium have to wear a gas mask in Insidious?

That exact gas mask seems to ring a bell from some graphic novel or horror movie I saw as a little kid but I can’t remember.

do u think i would be famous and successful?

I love to write horror novels i’m writing one called "The Signs" about a girl named Kate Barnes who lives in the mysterious and dangerous town of Recman, Michigan. And "Manifestation" about a boy named Bobby Kagean who haves terrible night terrors and his family and psychologist encounters the same thing he does. I wanna be like Stephen King so do you think so if i keep writing books like these?

Is this a good idea???

I’m in progress of writing a young adult fantasy novel. I’m not going to give everything away in hopes of it one day being published, but here’s the main plot:

The companionship between a boy and his guardian angel (literally speaking, he’s a fallen angel from heaven) and their adventures together. The boy’s parents are divorced: His father ran away with another woman and his mother has since become an alcoholic.

Although the boy is the main character and narrator of the story, I want his angel to be on equal terms with him. It’s technically THEIR story. It’s about their hardships, troubles and friendship.

I want this book to show the hardships teens today face, while at the same time having a lot of imagination and vivid fantasy to share with a young audiance.

What I need help with is, what should the point of the story be?? I don’t want it to be a very long book, only about 300 pages… But what sort of things can a young teen and his guardian angel do together? What sort of things would they face?

1.) Thanks to anyone who actually answers this question.
2.) Is this a good, fresh idea for a novel, or is it bound to fail? I’m only 17 by the way, but I believe with hard work I can really pull this off… So what do you think of my idea?
3.) AND NO! I’m not trying to steal ideas from people. I don’t go on YA to steal ideas, i just need INSPIRIATION. Give me tips. Don’t give me crap like "Well, if your asking questions of YA, YOU SHOULD NOT BE A WRITER!!" I’ve been writing every other day for practicly as long as i can remember.

Horror Movies………?

Could you give me some advice on some good horror movies..
the movies im looking for is something like:

Can you imagine the horror of being torn from your home, family and everything you knew at the age of 6 or 8 o

What if circumstances forced you to leave everything familiar in your life behind forever? To set out on a long, lonely life-threatening journey to a destination that had for you no real meaning, no name other than "escape?" What would YOU do in this situation? Can you even imagine?

Have you heard of the "Lost Boys" of Sudan and Dave Eggers’ new novel "What Is the What" based on their story?

The "Lost Boys" are tens of thousands of boys who fled their homes in southern Sudan during the Sudanese civil war of the 1980s after Arab militias attacked their villages. They walked hundreds of miles on a frightening journey to safety.

Many died from starvation, disease and attacks by humans and animals along the way. Those who survived made it to refugee camps in Ethiopia.

One of these "Lost Boys" and Dave Eggers have now collaborated in a novel blending fact and imagination called "What Is the What." In it Eggers describes the many traumas the children faced during their travels.
To read an excerpt from the book and hear a short conversation with Dave Eggers and the boy (now 25 ) with whom he collaborated see the following link.

[ЭΩ∞] – For shame! The Darfur conflict and genocide continue even today though the world is not paying attention. Perhaps a novel like this can make at least a few people stand up and take notice where the news headlines did not. I’m curious about the stories you could tell that would make the (past) plight of the Lost Boys seem just a walk in the park. Care to elaborate. I can’t imagine many things worse. Also, if YA is not for spread of knowledge of important (albeit distasteful) events in our world, just exactly what IS its purpose? To dispense rubbish, ca-ca, and personal bias?

See! NOW you’re speaking the mother tongue (English). I knew you could do it! LOL
